Alexander Meigs Haig (b. 1924) was an army officer, politician, diplomat, and Secretary of State. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and entered the U.S. Army, advancing through grades to the rank of general. He served as military assistant to the Secretary of the Army in 1964, and was deputy special assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense from 1964 to 1965.
